Most Fuel Efficient Luxury Car Lexus IS 250

Designed to deliver sporty performance, the IS 250 is the lowest-priced Lexus. The version with a six-speed automatic transmission is priced $1,200 higher than the base model, which is equipped with a six-speed manual, but the automatic delivers 15 percent better fuel economy. Even the all-wheel-drive version of the IS 250, sold in automatic only, out-performs the rear-wheel-drive manual in fuel economy.

The car’s interior is fairly comfortable and stylish, with large backlit gauges and a tasteful application of metallic trim. It’s also quiet, with a minimum of reducing wind and road noise in the cabin. Backseat room is at a premium, but no more so than in most other models in the compact class. Front knee, front side, and side-curtain airbags are standard. Optional with all-wheel-drive is a Pre-Collision System tied to the adaptive cruise control that anticipates when a crash is imminent and reacts accordingly by tightening the front seat belts and initializing the brake assist function for full stopping power.
